Well let's not say top 10 then. Let's say "one of the better teams in the region". Anyone going to dispute Council or Grundy that? I narrowed it to top 10 because some may have both of those teams top 10, some not. Anyone can draw their conclusions from there. There's not a rock solid top 10, a consensus poll or anything so it's all arbitrary anyways. I don't think they're top 5, to narrow it down that far...and a lot of people probably don't.

As for me, both of them are top 10 teams in the region to me unless someone convinces me otherwise.

I'd hate to see how you guys cope with real life if you get offended by what I say on a message board in disagreement with you guys. If you all had been around this time a year ago you guys would have been calling the police on some posters for what they'd say to you--filing harassment charges.

Problem is, you couldn't make your own point cvcgrad, so you resorted to say Bettyboop is agreeing with me, why can't you? That argument doesn't work here or in real life. I've got my own mind and my own thoughts thank you very much.

Plus, given the environment of a message board, if you've got a small # of posts, people aren't going to take you very seriously. You gotta earn them stripes!!!

EDIT: Hate to disappoint Boopster but you missed me this week. I ain't coming back to Clintwood unless it's to see my g/f's family or to watch Coeburn play their road game @Clintwood and in the LPD tourney in February. This is one Coeburn Crazie you'll have to do without.

As far as your perspective vs my perspective, I only hope that some day I can aspire to know so much that I cay say without reservation that I am absolutely right and thats just the way "it is... and remains to be." Until that day comes, I will remain a mere mortal.

Hyperbole &amp; a condescending nature will get you nowhere. Just means you can't argue the point at hand and have to resort to other tactics as far as I'm concerned. Argue the points and leave the personal stuff out of it. Never went after you personally once in this argument--went to the core of the subject we were debating. You wanna get personal, PM me. You wanna discuss something like an adult with as much experience as you seem to have, keep it on the board. Doesn't take death threats to understand that concept.

I'll tell you what cvcgrad...there's probably one thing that would have solved a lot of our arguments that you can't catch on a message board, and that's someone's body language, their vocal inflection, their sarcasm, their anger, their jokes, whatever. A lot of that gets lost in translation--that's what I meant earlier by getting it twisted.

Yourself and the Boopster (love that nickname whether she does or not...[img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]) both couldn't catch any of that with what I posted. I couldn't catch any of it just through the written word. It happens. I'm sure if all 3 of us were in person having this conversation it would have been more amicable and less confrontational. That's why I choose not to hold too many grudges on this board, regardless of what's said.

Hollyfield made a stupid move. He got called for it. Grundy won and Coeburn is a consolation game. Reality bites sometimes.

Fair enough Widespread. Your opinion. The only reason why I responded is because you disputed that they were top 10 and didn't give a top 10 to back it up...good enough for me.

I do have a question though--from what I heard, Abingdon &amp; Grundy split their games in the past few weeks, blowing out each other on the other's home court. Why Grundy 4 and Abingdon 6? Not in disagreement there, just want to know your analysis.

I may make jokes and be sarcastic, but I won't insult people. That's not my style at all.

I stand by what I said regarding Hollyfield. We're just going to have to agree to disagree. For the record, the comments I made regarding the talent of Hollyfield and the Coeburn team was not a "backhanded compliment" as you stated. If I didn't believe it, I wouldn't say it.

I agree dev. If RC would learn to finish a game they could possibly be tossed into the equation but since their stomping of PH, they cannot finish a game. Hopefully they will finish Sullivan North today, unlike previously.

I'm not ready to jump on the Coeburn bandwagon just yet. They've played a weak schedule so far (Grundy being the exception) and the one point victory over an awful Thomas Walker is suspect. At this point I don't see anyone from the LPD, other than Gate City, advancing in the Regionals.

Maybe...but the 1 point win is only suspect b/c they were DEAD tired after the Clintwood game the night before. The final score wasn't indicative of how that game really went Widespread...I was there and saw it...Coeburn led by 12-16 for most of the game, and were way too tired and about let TW come back and beat them via some crazy clutch 3pt shooting by guys who hadn't found the rim all night to that point. You know how sucky of a trip that is too from C-town to Ewing...even worse on a bus...

No excuses to be made though. A win's a win.

I'm not all suprised the Twin Springs would be ranked Top 10 on anyone's list. The school has a tradition for turning out great basketball teams.

As far as Grundy goes, I'm impressed with the team, but they tend to play hot and cold. In last night's game against Castlewood, they rallied from a double-digit deficit to take a 6 pt lead in the fourth quarter and lost momentum again due to stupid fouls.

Ervinton/Burton will be a better game than what people think IMO...may be within 5-10 either way. Depends on who shoots the ball well. This could be one of those 36-35 type of games.

I agree Ervindon is not bad but are a very thin team if they get into foul trouble or tired they will lose but if not will take the game down to the wire.

I know it is early in the season and that Norton is a coupple of weeks behind everyone else becouse of there success in football this year but I really expected them to look better than they have in there first 2 games in this turnamet.

Injuries and lack of skilled big men is killing Burton right now. They're all quick as cats, but I don't know that they'll do better than 4th or 5th in the district if their luck keeps up.

It may be a game where Adam Kiser is on display for Ervinton and Zo is on display for Burton. Could see 50 or more points combined between those two.
